Missing All Upper or Lower Teeth Charlotte NC

Smiling blonde woman sitting in dental chair at Greater Charlotte Oral and Facial Surgery in Charlotte, NC.Missing all of your teeth in either arch can cause significant frustration in both function and self-confidence. Dentures allow for limited function, and aesthetic, but retaining them in your mouth includes new frustrations. Trying to hold dentures in with suction or glues can be messy, discouraging, and the fear of failure can be overwhelming.

At Greater Charlotte Oral and Facial Surgery, we can help you permanently retain your dentures. They will firmly stay in place. Using multiple dental implants, one of our surgeons, Amir Marashi, MD, DDS, FACS or Dr. Marashi, can permanently affix your dentures, giving you a look, feel, and use of your natural teeth. A common thought of denture wearing patients is the glass of water and dentures by the bedside. It's a story that seems to come naturally with age, but with people living longer, healthier, more active lives, many are not ready to meet that image. With dental implants, you don't have to. Implants entirely change any preconceived ideas when it comes to dentures. Yes, you will be able to eat that corn on the cob, and more. You can engage in conversation without the fear of your dentures slipping or coming loose. In fact, your dentures will never come loose or rock back and forth on your gums; they are permanently retained.

How Implant Retained Dentures Work

Whether you no longer have any healthy teeth remaining on the top arch, the bottom arch, or both, our team at Greater Charlotte Oral and Facial Surgery can help. There are options that include a denture that snaps on and off of implanted posts, and options that permanently hold the denture in place. The best way to find out which option is best for you is to discuss your needs with one of our oral surgeons, Amir Marashi, MD, DDS, FACS or Dr. Marashi.

Implant retained dentures are recommended for patients who:

•  Are new to dentures: We can assist you in ordering a customized denture prior to your implant placement.

•  Have been wearing dentures for years: Assuming there is no damage, we can use your denture that you have already grown comfortable wearing, and attach it with implants.

•  Aremedically healthy or delicate: The surgical procedure for placing implants is a minimally invasive procedure. This process has been approved for even medically delicate patients, as long as they can properly heal.

•  Want to increase comfort from their denture: Wearing dentures can be tough. They can make eating and speaking more difficult, and they can cause some social anxiety or reservation in social settings. Having your denture permanently attached increases the comfort, the function, and security in it staying in place.

If you are missing all of your teeth on one or both arches, we can help. We can provide replacement options for your missing teeth that will greatly improve your look, your function, and your overall ease of use. We can help your denture feel like your natural teeth.
